Fifteen Years and Counting

Today I mark 15 years of federal service.

I’ve served my country at three agencies – Peace Corps, the Voice of America, and the Department of State – across five countries – Macedonia, the United States, Uzbekistan, Australia, and now Mexico. I’m proud of this decade-and-a-half milestone and the career I have been building. When I mentioned this anniversary to my colleagues today, one reminded me that your quinceañera (15th birthday) in Mexico is a really big deal! 😍

The bureaucracy and politics of government can be maddening at times, but for me, the call to service is very strong. Here’s to tireless service towards an ideal we strive to reach, towards a better and more perfect union. With integrity and professionalism, we carry the flag.
